DMX Krew/East Side Boogie
The East Side Boogie EP is a six track 12"/digital release by DMX Krew. The release begins with the remix and, then next, the original version of the title track, "East Side Boogie." The original is pure electro-boogie at its finest. Through the use of vintage drum machines, vocoder, and synths, the track could easily be classified as a lost 80s classic, within the same vein of artists like Formula V, Zapp, or Kleeer. The remix, on the other hand, is a modern, bass heavy take on the original. While preserving a similar old school ethic, this remix adds some new school flavor. The third track titled "Surf Squad" takes a departure to a more chilled out, cosmic-electro territory; a true beachside anthem for a digital era. More geared toward the dance floor, "Turing Test" is another instrumental electro jaunt with its deep punchy bass and stabbing synths. The alluringly haunting "No More Bad Dreams" is reminiscent of a synth-pop lullaby, a rarity in the electronic consciousness. “Mind Bombs” ends the outing with a slow pummeling of sub heavy bass and synth melody.
